What Is Aronia and Where Does it Come From?

What is an Aronia Berry?

We still get asked this question all the time. After 12 years of growing certified organic Aronia berries, let me help you understand.

Aronia berries (aronia melanocarpa), or black chokeberries, as commonly known in the past, are rich in fiber, vitamins and powerful antioxidants that have heart-healthy, immune-boosting, anti-viral and anti-cancer properties.

The Aronia berry is one of the most antioxidant-rich superfoods in the world. Packed with polyphenols, calcium, iron, and vitamins A, B2, B6, B9, C, E, and more. Aronia may help manage chronic conditions and prevent illness.

Where do they come from?

Native to the midwest, the fruits of Aronia melanocarpa have been traditionally used by Native Americans for medicinal uses.  The Aronia Berry was used by tribes as a supplement in their diet as well as an herbal remedy for colic, scrapes, boosting the immune system and as a treatment for a variety of other health related ailments.

Poland raises a large quantity of conventional Aronia.  If you are looking for certified organic, US grown, look no further than our Aronia.
